Classroom Interuptions

In Room 42 we constantly get interrupted either by the intercom or students from different classes. This affects me because our teacher says if we don't finish our work, then we have to stay inside. Another problem is when one group is working on the mat with our teacher someone or something interrupts our class so everyone looks over at them.


To solve this problem:
- We can put a sign on the door saying Do not disturb.
- We can have a class secretary to ask the teacher what the other student would like.
- The whole class can carry on working and one person says come back later.
- Everyone can try not to get distracted by the something or someone.


What kind of interruptions accure:
- Bell
- Dental clinic
- Students
- Counsellor

Social Experiment

Task
Clarify and predict the title of the video we will watch today: Social Experiment
I think this video is about a science experiment when someone goes around and shows people it and shows them how to do it and how it works. Then every different place he/she goes to they do a different science experiment. I think he grabs random people and asks them if they want to try an experiment and after they have then they will ask do you know how it works. They are socialising so that is why I think it is called social experiment.

Write up this video using the Science Process.

Aim
To find out what people would react the most to what someone said. He said something nice then something rude. √

Hypothesis
I thought that this was going to be a science experiment not a random one.
Equipment & Method
A Speaker. √
A person that texts. √ 
Random people. √
First place your speaker some where in the public.√
Then find a place to hide but where you can still see people. √
Now stay and say nice and mean anonymous comments for about 30 mins and watch the reactions. √

Results (make these up)
Most of the reactions to something nice were laughing and some of the reactions were angry. √

Conclusion
The person who the video, made random comments to see what the social reactions were. I found out that anonymous comments that are nice will make the random person want to stay and hear more and anonymous comments that are mean will make the person angry and not want to stay there. √

Homework

Mean: Mean is nasty, the meanest one to do. What you have to do is add up all the numbers and divide it by the numbers added. e.g 4, 3, 2.    4 + 3 + 2 = 9  now count how many of the numbers you added then divide 9 by 3 which = 3.

Median: Median reminds me of the word middle. What you have to do is, line up all the numbers from smallest to biggest and find the middle number. e.g 1,3,6,7,4,9,4,5,6,1,9 put all the numbers in order 1,1,3,4,4,5,6,6,7,9,9 now find the middle number which is 5 and that is your answer.

Mode: Mode almost sounds like most so that is how I remember it. You have to find the most popular number. e.g 1,9,9,4,6,4,4,6 now sort them from smallest to biggest 1,4,4,4,6,6,9,9 now find the most popular which is 4.

Range: Range reminds me of the mountains or mountain ranges, there are high mountains and there are low mountains. You have to find the smallest number and subtract it from the biggest number to find your range. e.g  10   |   20   |   30   |   40   40-10=30 that is your range.

Summarise who this letter is from, who it is to, and what it is about.
The letter is from someone called Emily Park. The letter is to Mrs Campbell (one being scammed). This letter is about someone loosing all there money from, a scam and asking other people to give her money.

What are 2 reasons you know that this letter is a scam.
1. Someone lost 1,300,000,00 from funds.

2. They wouldn't give all of their details like that.


Give 3 pieces of evidence (excerpts of sentences) that prove that this letter is a scam.
1. The amount of money that was lost by the person.

2. The amount of money that got given back from the person that said they lost the money.

3. All of the details that the people given out.

Describe a scam or prank you have heard about or been subject to.



Give 5 pieces of advice for people to avoid internet or email based scams.

Go to the app store and search up add block it will block all ads every where including youtube.

Homework

How does a glow stick work

What I think now (before we start): I think when you snap a glow stick there is a glass tube that holds another chemical that ignites the chemical that is on the out side of the glass tube.

What I think now (after hearing others’ ideas): Well I know now that there might be a really clear glass tube that holds another chemical that means when it snaps the chemical on the outside of the glass tube that chemical will activate the other chemical.

What I think now (after seeing Miss C cut open the tube): My prediction was right that there was a glass tube in it.

Synthesis is when you start with no knowledge but at the end you understand everything.

Sampling lesson

A sample is a small amount of population that works together to create things together e.g cars.

The reason of taking a sample, is to find something that you want to find out about a certain amount or a culture of people.

An example of sampling irl is to go knocking on doors.

The word population means a group of people or something that is living.

You can tell if you are sampling the right population if the population relates to your topic or question.


We picked a question and we asked the amount of people who actually do the question.

Me: So, you went to TGS the international school right?
Bailey: Yes I did got to TGS it is a great place to study.
Me: So, at TGS how many countries did you have to study at?
Bailey: I have studied at 12 different countries.
Me: What were the things you've done?
Bailey: I snorkelled in the Galapagos Islands, I walked the Great Wall of China and I learned to Tango.
Me: Well nice interviewing you Bailey maybe we can talk again.
